This is our doe Fantasia, when we first discovered the sores we thought she had gotten caught in something, but it became very evident a week later what the problem was. We treated her with ivomec and safeguard and constantly was putting anti itch creams, anti-biotic creams, anything we could to try and keep the area soft, but she worried the lesions constantly it did not matter what we put on her or what we gave to try and alleviate the itching. As you can see from the 10/28 picture it got pretty bad but you can also see how much of it had healed. Today you would not notice she ever had it with the exception of her hair growing in a all directions right by her flank. This is this does second bout with meningeal worm. Fantasia and a couple others seem to be more sensitive to the larvae migrating under their skin. We had also been following the recommended preventative regimen from Ohio State but still ended up with a couple cases in 2003.
This is Fantasia 10 months later and can hardly tell she was messed up as bad as she was.

Pictured below is our Daphne, this was her second bout with the worm also. We started treatment on her sooner than fantasia and she did not get near as bad. As of July of 2004 she has it once again, but this time it started between her mammary and leg, so we once again assumed another problem until the small bumps and then patches of missing hair showed, and the areas with missing hair turn hard and leathery feeling, but at least this time we have stopped the progression with a more prompt treatment. Pictures of this years lesions will posted soon.
Below is Daphne this summer, (2004), it started inside her leg between her leg and on her mammary and progressed upward in a straight line towards her top line.

This is Deidre, she shows a more typical at least from what I have read more typical area where the lesions usually show up. She never got any worse than that. It does seem like at least in my own herd that some animals are more sensitive than others since Fantasia and Daphne have had repeats even with preventative measures.
