Take Pride Ohio awarded to Smithfield Township. First township in Ohio to receive the Governor's Award Plant Pride Not Litter August 2001 Smithfield Township Trustees were first to receive the Governor's recognition for the fight against litter and junk. Trustees campaign to their constitutes to beautify their property and work together against unwanted junk, trash and littering. You could view the TAKE PRIDE sign which is located at the intersection of SR 151 and CR 23 Friendship Park Road.

Smithfield Township have also become instrumental to recover old cemeteries. Cemeteries of Smithfield Township are
