Arlington Institute Led by John Petersen of "Out of the Blue" fame. Produces the worthwhile "FUTUREdition" e-mail digest of scanning hits and has some great futures resources. Australian Foresight Institute Led by Dr Richard Slaughter at Swinburne University. A good portal for other futures links. Club of Rome A global think-tank famous for its contention with the "Global Problematique". dmoz Open Directory A search engine compilation of futures links. GBN A great resource site particularly for futures scenarios. Greater Boston Chapter of the World Future Society Surprisingly good portal with some 'left of center' futures sites. Future File Site of well-known Canadian futurist Tod Maffin. A little 'poppy' but contains some good stuff nevertheless. Futures Trust New Zealand based Futures concern with some decent links. Institute for Alternative Futures Futures firm based in Alexandria, VA. Site contains some futures resources and links. Institute for the Future Well respected company located in Menlo Park, CA. Site includes some interesting work including forecasts and reports on the future. Looking Forward A good source of futures linkes hosted by the Foresight and Governance Project. Millennium Project United Nations global futures project headed by eminent futurists Jerry Glenn and Ted Gordon. Produces the annual "The State of the Future". Strategic Futures International A worthwhile futures portal despite a number of deceased links. The Futures Lab A futures based consultancy based in Austin, TX where I am very fortunate to be working. Headed up by Derek Woodgate, this site is worth a look, containing some very interesting articles and insights into the future. University of Hawaii at Manoa Futures program headed by Dr Jim Dator. Produces the sporadic "Manoa Journal of Fried and Half-Fried Ideas". University of Houston at Clear Lake Home of the MS in Studies of the Future program led by Dr Peter Bishop. Great site for futures information. World Future Society For-profit futures association that publishes "The Futurist" and "Future Survey". Some articles are available online. World Futures Studies Federation International organization of futures 'thinkers'. Has a good list of Futures based institutions in the 'Resources' section. World Network of Religious Futurists A very good portal and source of essays about the future, religious and otherwise.

Scanning Christian Science Monitor A truly international source of news. Day Pop Search engine that updates daily. You can turn up some good hits if you use the right keywords. Disinformation A different take on news, culture, technology... you name it. EurekAlert News service for new scientific discoveries and the like. The Economist Despite its 'stodgy' perception, you can sometimes find some gems here. The Futures Lab The 'news from the future' section is where we collect scanning hits relevant to our company clients and visitors to the site. Futurescan UH-CL based weblog to which I contribute. Sometimes sporadic but still worth a look. MIT Research Digest Basically a 'what's new' at MIT. Goes hand in hand with their publication "Technology Review". Newshub Site that updates news headlines every 15 minutes. Salon.com E-Zine that sometimes yields some interesting insights into cultural trends. Slashdot Virtual water-cooler for Techno-geeks. Wired The site of the aesthetically pleasing magazine. Good summary of what's new and soon to be new.
