WHO WAS ADAM AND EVE AND WHAT CAUSED THEM TO FALL FROM GRACE? HOW DID THEY POPULATE THE EARTH?
Adam was the first man God made. Adam was different from all the rest of the things God had made because Adam was made in Gods image. This means that Adam was somewhat like God himself but not nearly so good and great and powerful. Adam was more like God than any of the other things God had made. Because of this Adam was higher than the animals and able to rule over them.
As Adam searched for the animals, naming then, he noticed that all the creatures that lived around him had others of their own kind to be with. This made Adam feel alone. God did see that Adam needed a companion so one day he caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep. God took one of Adams ribs and from it made a woman to be his companion. When Adam woke he was very happy to find the woman and he called her Eve.
God told Adam and Eve that they could eat from every tree in the garden except the Tree of Knowledge and not to touch its fruit or we will die.
Satan in the disguise of a serpent convinced Eve that eating from the Tree of Knowledge would give them wisdom and they would be able to understand things as he does. Eve, believing the serpent, took the fruit from the tree and ate it. She then gave some to Adam and he ate it also. They immediately knew the had done wrong and tried to hid from God.
God became very angry with because they disobeyed the one rule that He had given them. He was so disappointed and upset that they believed the devil instead of him that he sent them from the garden. God then sent angels to guard the Tree of Life and to keep them (Adam & Eve) from returning to the Garden.
God told Adam and Eve that they would have to work very hard to survive and they would have trouble and sickness. He also told them that one day they would die.
Adam and Eve had 2 sons....Abel and Cain. Cain, in a jealous rage, murdered Abel. God marked Cain and drove him to the land of Nod. Then another son was born. His name was Seth.
Seth gained the birthright because the older two brothers were out of the picture. Therefore the bloodline of Adam and Eve went through Seth and on to Noah. Noah's sons, Shem, Ham and Japeth repopulated the earth.
Here is the catch....Adam and Eve had three sons. Genesis 5 tells us that Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born. He lived an additional 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Therefore, to continue to populate the earth, brothers begat sisters until the bloodline was reduced through generations and people were no longer considered to all be blood relatives.
